Update on the author of Alphabetyping

Our mother, Ruth C. Weyer, passed away on February 26, 2010 at the age of 97. She was known by those who knew her as "the most beautiful person, ever, both on the inside and on the outside." We hope that ALPHABETYPING will be used as she designed it to be, helping many learn keyboarding skills through the alphabet.

An Introduction to ALPABETYPING

ALPHABETYPING was created by my mother, Ruth C. Weyer in 1975 and copyrighted in 1976 and 1989. Ruth is now 96 and her dream of seeing widespread usage of ALPHBETYPING has not yet been realized. Many homeschoolers and special needs students in my classrooms have learned the correct keyboard fingering through this method.

From the forward: "This manual has been prepared for the purpose of providing the beginning typist with the skills needed for computer literacy, whether in the home, the classroom, or the workplace...........The first ten lessons concentrate on the task of correct fingering. These exercises utilize real words from the start.......not meaningless combinations of letters and symbols. Attention is directed to the skills of spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure, enhancing both reading and writing ability.................The remaining six lessons give a brief overview for the more advanced student who is ready to move ahead into the function of word processing.............The text has been composed for the individual learner and is therefore self-instructional."
